Working In A Cellar

Maybe you have read one of my older posts where I’ve written about my new workspace. I don’t want to bore you with the details, but I now had to look for another place where I can work on my horror / science fiction / fantasy web series Shadows of Prey.

My new studio lot is nice. No windows, no fresh air, no sunlight. With a little bit of imagination you can think of it like a Hobbit hole – just without the nice woodworks, the round doors or the 12 dwarfs. But at least it is below ground level. 🙂

My working place is in a room next to an underground garage where some of the tenants store some of their stuff. I talked with my neighbors and they were ok with me putting some of the stuff aside and making myself a small place where I can write scripts, paint watercolour concept designs for my short films and draw storyboards. I think I got a bit of the artist bonus.

As I can’t afford to rent a real studio at the moment and there is not enough space in my apartment I got to be creative to find places and ressources in order to do my stuff. I can’t put my machine down there, but I’m happy with what I can get. At least it is warm down there. 🙂

By the way: I painted the last missing illustrations for my web series’ intro down there.

    • Yes, nobody enters this chamber. Just one of the tenants was down there last weekend looking for some of his stuff, asking me what it is I am exactly doing all the time. I told him, but I’m afraid it was more information he actually wanted to have… he urgently had to get to his car and ….do something.
I did not want to scare him off on purpose – he is a nice old man.

Oh, the wooden seat you can see by my table is his, I borrowed it 🙂
