On How To Make Important Decisions

choosing between two paths

There are times when you are confronted with a situation in which you have to choose between two paths and you feel that your decision will have a large impact on your life. Be it your creative evolution, your economical situation, your social life or whatsoever.

You might believe, in some cases, that in either way you will loose something. And that is true. Because deciding to do one thing is always deciding not to do all the other things (like I wrote about in this post when I had to decide if I should go after my graphic novel or my horror / science fiction / fantasy web series Shadows of Prey).

But I think, that even so, there is a way to choose (in most cases) “the right way” for you – which is:

Decide important decisions with your heart – execute with your head.

Of course this does not apply for questions of love for obvious reasons 🙂 But if you are not sure which project to choose, which job to take, whether to leave the country or not… I think, that listening to your gut instinct can never be wrong.

Once you have taken your decision and have chosen your path you should switch to your “head mode”, like I described in this post for example. And you will be forced to make even more decisions through the course of your journey – but this time you will decide with your main goal in mind and if you really believe in the (heart-)decision you have made before, it should not be that hard for you to make all the compromises which surely will arise – because you know that they serve your main goal.
