Looking Into The Abyss

fantasy science fiction story sketch by John Brito

Sometimes it is a good idea to let the pencil do whatever it wants. I did so some time ago and the result of that was…. Poseidon.

I imagined a huge ocean cruiser, the beforementioned Poseidon, from the 1970’s that happened to fall into a dimensional crack during one of its cruises. The ship, crew and passengers were transferred into another world – a world that consisted of one single huge ocean.

The people on the ship used the diving equipment which was initially planned to be used as an amusement activity for the paying guests to gather ressources from the immense underwater flora. Gigantic trunks of living matter, each of them covered with its own eco system of vegetal life forms – and predators.
