If you have read the two last posts, Fighting the Paper I and Fighting the Paper II, you might already know of some of the challenges I enountered (and how I solved them) when I wanted to colourise the illustrations for the fairytale book, Below the Floor.
Below you can see the first image I got finished, which depicts Chiron, the elder. As mentioned in the post about the clothing styles of the Wan Tau, he does not wear shoes, because the older generations of these little kobolds strongly believe, that wearing shoes disconnects them from Mother Earth.
In the meanwhile, I have coloured several other pen and ink illustrations and I am really pumped, because many of them came out really well. I`m really excited to see your reactions once the story is finished. Sure, there are still a lot of steps lying ahead, like revising and finishing the manuscript, translating it, copy editing, doing the layout and graphic design… But, still, I can see the finishing line appearing at the horizon. Yeah!! 😀
Love the shading. Simple yet effective. I like that you let the background work for you. You concord the paper.😀

Thanks a ton, Kit. I try do give my best… well, and I try to be fast. I´d love to spend more time on each picture, but as there are so many of them I had to reduce the number of painting steps 🙂
