Daenerys Targaryen, Papercut Style

After I had finished all of the interior illustrations for the fairytale book, I was looking for a new way of creating illustrations. Basically, I was testing different styles and the one I liked the most were papercuts. So here is Daenerys Targaryen from Game of Thrones (written by Gerorge R.R. Martin), just for fun.

It all starts with a sheet of paper – in this case for the hair.

At the end, I created the background. I had to redo it, though, because the format was not right.

Then, I switched cameras and played around with the table lamps and neon lights I have in my studio. It also took some time to get the colour temperature and exposure settings of my camera right, as I wanted to give it a cloudy desert midday look. I know that you can change nearly everything in Photoshop, but if I had wanted to create a Photoshop image I would have started in Photoshop right away. 🙂
