A Phran´s Life Cycle

faery illustration and life cycle by John Brito

A Phran is a dream faery, that feeds on the dreams of its victims. It finds its victims when they are at a very young age and haunts them for several years or decades untill they are drowned in hopelessness.

When a Phran knows, that it is going to die, it seeks out s special place in the woods where it burries itself or a part of itself.
Out of the burried body part grows a new Phran which inherits the old Phrans as well as the surrounding trees memories.

If a child is haunted by a Phran there is not very much you can do to safe the poor little one. Nothing but a Knautbold, which you can see on the right page above.

  1. Awesome piece of mythology/myth creation, John! I love it! Great sketchbook, too. Have you read ‘The Stolen Child’, by Keith Donohue? I think you might like it.

  2. Such a pretty creature in a scary dream concept. Love the rebirth death idea you invented. Sounds interesting.
